Westcliff is the the last residential suburb, adjacent to Northcliff, on entering Hermanus from the direction of Cape Town. Westcliff is one of the older and more historical suburbs of Hermanus, with a number of heritage properties, built in the days of old when Hermanus was no more than a quaint fishermen’s village. Westcliff Drive – a “millionaire’s mile” – has some of the most sought after property in Hermanus with ocean views stretching as far as the eye can see. The newest landmark to Westcliff, the New Harbor, offers popular restaurants, fishing charters and cruises attracting tourists and visitors from far and wide. Westcliff is a largely residential suburb with some commercial trade.  The suburb offers Guest Houses & Hotels as well as a Provincial Hospital, a MediClinic and a number of medical practices.

There is a large percentage of more established family homes in the suburb and a number of luxury mansions on the waters edge. Plot sizes in Westcliff range from 600m2 – 1200m2. Property prices in Westcliff depend on location. Average homes range from R3,000,000+ to R30,000,000+ for an oceanfront property in the current market. There are a few residential complexes offering apartments.

There are no schools in Westcliff but the Hermanus Provincial Schools and Hermanus Generations School in Northcliff is an approximate four kilometer walk or bicycle ride away.  Westcliff is a most desirable suburb with it’s treelined streets, short distance to Hermanus CBD and the magnificent coastal cliff paths with endless ocean views.
