Hermanus Refuse Disposal
The municipality provides a weekly scheduled refuse collection service to residents and businesses in Hermanus
Drop-off facilities and transfer stations are available to residents for the disposal of household and garden refuse. These are open seven days a week.
HERMANUS transfer station off Mbeki Street (garden waste only) – open weekdays from 08:00 till 18:00, Saturdays 09:00 to 16:00 and public holidays 09:00 to 14:00.
HERMANUS public drop-off at the bottom of Schulphoek Road (builders’ rubble and general waste) – open weekdays from 08:00 till 18:00, Saturdays 09:00 to 16:00 and public holidays 09:00 to 14:00. In addition, the site is operated as a MINI DROP OFF for people leaving the area on a Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00 and will only accept small quantities of general waste (max 4 bags) no builders rubble or garden waste per client.
VOËLKLIP Weekend Mini drop-off in 7th Street (household waste, black bags only) – open weekdays from 08:00 till 17:30, Saturdays from 09:00 to 15:30, Sundays 10:00 to 16:30 and public holidays 09:00 to 13:30.
VOËLKLIP PRAWN FLATS drop-off (garden and household waste) – open weekdays from 08:00 till 17:30, Saturdays from 09:00 to 15:30 and public holidays 09:00 to 13:30.
HAWSTON drop-off in Church Street (builders’ rubble and general waste) – open weekdays from 08:00 till 18:00, Saturdays 09:00 to 16:00, Sundays 10:00 to 17:00 and public holidays 09:00 to 14:00.
RECYCLABLES
The Hermanus Waste Material Recovery Facility (MRF) in Schulphoek Road is open to businesses and households for the delivery of recyclable waste should they have larger volumes that they require to dispose of. Waste operating hours for acceptance of recyclable waste from the general public is between 08:00 and 17:00 from Monday to Thursdays, 08:00 till 16:00 on a Friday and public holidays until 14:00 that fall on a weekday. Closed on weekends. No household or garden waste will be accepted here. Household waste can be disposed of at the public drop-off next door and garden waste needs to be taken to the Hermanus Transfer Station site where it will be chipped and then sent to Karwyderskraal for composting.
